Thousands of Pennsylvania residents are receiving a financial boost this summer, with rebate payments of up to $1,000 being issued as part of the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. The initiative, designed to help low- to moderate-income individuals, seniors, and people with disabilities, began disbursing payments on July 1, 2025.
Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed that approximately $258 million has already been sent to 470,000 Pennsylvanians. With a total of 600,000 residents eligible, many more payments are expected to follow in the coming months.

- Although the original deadline was June 30, the application has been extended to December 31, 2025, thanks to remaining available funds.
- Applications are free and can be submitted online, by mail, or in person.
- A new application must be filed each year.
Why It Matters
According to Governor Shapiro, these rebates are critical for seniors and individuals on fixed incomes, helping them cover basic needs like groceries and medications.
This financial support is part of a broader effort by multiple states to offset the effects of inflation, rising living costs, and economic pressures by providing direct assistance to residents.
If you believe you qualify and haven’t applied yet, there’s still time to secure your rebate. Eligible residents are encouraged to act quickly to ensure they receive their payments before the extended deadline.
