Pennsylvania Man Sentenced After Killing 82-Year-Old Mother and Hiding Body Under Couch

Holland, Pennsylvania — A 51-year-old man will likely spend decades behind bars after admitting he brutally killed his 82-year-old mother and concealed her body beneath furniture inside her condominium before fleeing the state.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced that William Ingram was sentenced Wednesday to 30 to 64 years in prison for the killing of his mother, Dolores Ingram.

A judge described the crime as an “unspeakable” act committed against a mother who had never given up on her son.

Guilty Plea and Charges

In December, Ingram pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including:

  • Third-degree murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Abuse of a corpse
  • Theft by unlawful taking
  • Receiving stolen property
  • Possession of an instrument of crime
  • Cruelty to animals
  • Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance

Authorities said the violent attack occurred in the early morning hours of June 15, 2024, inside the family’s Beacon Hill Drive condominium in Holland, a northern suburb of Philadelphia.

Surveillance Footage and Flight to D.C.

A neighbor reported being awakened around 1 a.m. by loud banging noises. Surveillance footage later showed Ingram running from the condo shirtless at approximately 1:43 a.m., then returning briefly before leaving again later that morning.

Prosecutors said Ingram stole his mother’s white Honda Civic and drove roughly 160 miles to Washington, where he allegedly attacked a police officer.

During interactions with officers and hospital staff, Ingram reportedly made multiple incriminating statements.

“I killed my mother,” he allegedly told authorities more than once.

When asked for an emergency contact at the hospital, he reportedly responded, “Not anymore.”

Gruesome Discovery at the Condo

On June 16, the Metropolitan Police Department contacted Bucks County officials requesting a welfare check at the Holland residence.

Officers responding to the scene noticed blood on a windowsill and entered through an unlocked window. Inside, they observed significant blood spatter and furniture in disarray.

Dolores Ingram’s body was discovered beneath a pile of items including plates, towels, linens, a laundry bag and a futon-style couch.

Officers first saw a human foot protruding from the pile; it was cold to the touch.

Investigators said the victim suffered severe head trauma and lacerations. A hunting-style fixed-blade knife was found near her head.

Authorities also reported discovering approximately 6 pounds of marijuana, $53,000 in cash and large bags of psilocybin mushrooms inside the residence. Two dead lizards were found in a shattered aquarium at the scene.

Prosecutors said Ingram told Washington authorities, unprompted, that he was a drug dealer.

Emotional Courtroom Statements

During sentencing, Common Pleas Judge Stephen A. Corr addressed Ingram directly.

“She wasn’t giving up on you, but you gave up on her,” the judge said.

Deputy District Attorney Monica Furber noted that Dolores Ingram had spent much of her life caring for her son.

Family members delivered emotional victim impact statements. One of Dolores Ingram’s daughters told the court, “I’ve had nightmares about her last moments.”

In her obituary, Dolores Ingram was remembered as “a kind, compassionate and generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.”

The lengthy sentence means William Ingram will likely remain incarcerated for the majority of his remaining life.
