LOUISVILLE, Ky.— Following the damage caused by Hurricane Helene, North Carolina is still making progress. About 200 people from Kentucky went to Asheville over the weekend to help with disaster aid.
The workers are Latter-day Saints who belong to The Church of Jesus Christ.
The city of Lexington To help out in Asheville, Stake President Drew Millar got 100 people from the congregations he leads to serve. They joined 100 other people from Kentucky who are part of other groups in the state.
“A lot of big trees are down, so there are a lot of chainsaws cutting things up and taking them to the road to be picked up. There is also flood damage from basements, so they’re cleaning out basements and ripping up carpets and drywall,” Millar said.
The people of Asheville were very thankful for the help they got over the weekend.
People can still give money to the American Red Cross to help towns that were hit by Hurricane Helene.
