Ohio Woman Walks Free after Plea Deal in Child Assault Case; Helped Man Kidnap 12-year-old

Dayton, OH – An Ohio woman, 33-year-old Reka Jarmon, will walk free after accepting a plea deal in a case involving the abduction and assault of a 12-year-old boy, prosecutors confirmed. The plea agreement allows Jarmon to plead guilty to lesser charges while avoiding more serious felony convictions.

Plea Deal Reduces Charges

On Dec. 5, 2025, Jarmon pleaded guilty to trespassing in a habitation and child endangerment. Originally, she faced charges of kidnapping, assault, and abduction in connection with a February 2025 incident alongside 38-year-old DeMarcus Pleasure, who has already been sentenced to three years in prison.

As part of the plea deal, all charges of kidnapping, assault, and abduction against Jarmon were dropped, and a judge sentenced her to time served, allowing her to leave court immediately.

Details of the February Incident

According to court records, Jarmon and Pleasure went to the home of Pleasure’s 12-year-old nephew on Feb. 22, 2025, and forced the boy into a vehicle. The pair then drove him to a second location, where they assaulted him by pouring bleach on his face, resulting in injuries to his eyes and face. Authorities report that the boy has since recovered from his injuries.

During his sentencing, Pleasure told the court, “I made a mistake,” and claimed he did not realize taking his own relative would constitute kidnapping. He explained, “I lived with this little boy. I raised him as my own.”

Both Jarmon and Pleasure have maintained that the boy may have been suspected of sexual assault, though police have not confirmed this information.

Pleasure’s Conviction and Sentencing

Pleasure previously pleaded guilty to abduction on Nov. 7, 2025, after prosecutors agreed to drop the kidnapping and assault charges. He was sentenced to three years in prison for his role in the attack.

Jarmon’s case followed a similar plea agreement pattern, reducing her legal exposure while still recognizing her involvement in the incident.

Community Reaction

The decision to allow Jarmon to walk free has raised questions among residents and community advocates about accountability in child assault cases, particularly when plea deals significantly reduce potential penalties. Many emphasize the need for public awareness regarding child endangerment laws and the importance of protecting minors from abuse, even when family members are involved.

The case underscores the challenges prosecutors face in negotiating plea agreements while balancing the interests of justice, victim protection, and legal strategy.

Legal and Safety Takeaways

Authorities stress that incidents like this, even when resolved through plea deals, serve as a reminder to families and communities to remain vigilant regarding child safety. Legal experts note that the plea allowed the court to hold Jarmon legally accountable for her role without the delays of a prolonged trial.

Local law enforcement continues to encourage reporting of abuse or assault, especially when minors are involved, and to seek immediate protective measures when a child’s safety is threatened.

What do you think, Dayton?

Do you feel the plea deal in this case provides adequate accountability, or should more severe penalties have been pursued?
