Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen will open its first city store at 488 Howe Ave, where Pieology Pizzeria used to be. It will be in The UV shopping centre. Sacramento Business Journal says the new restaurant will be 2,400 square feet and will open in late summer or early fall 2025.
The Sacramento store is part of a larger expansion led by Dr. Shaukat Shah and his son Asad Shah, who are first-time franchisees. They just signed a deal to open new locations in San Joaquin, Danville, Modesto, and Stockton.
They haven’t decided yet whether The UV will be a fast-casual restaurant like Russo’s other locations or a full-service diner. Both types of locations have wine bars and meals that are based around the brand’s famous pizza oven.
Russo’s is known for its hand-tossed New York-style pies and other traditional Italian food. The franchise runs more than 50 sites in the US and other countries, such as in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The new diner in Sacramento will be Russo’s second in California. His first was in Clovis, which opened earlier.
