The Bass museum has announced the opening of The Rotunda at The Bass, a newly renovated satellite gallery located in Collins Park that will welcome visitors starting March 28.
The new space expands the museum’s footprint beyond its main building and introduces a more casual, accessible setting where visitors can engage with contemporary art in the heart of one of Miami Beach’s most popular public parks.

Historic rotunda building transformed into art gallery

Over the years, the space hosted community meetings, lectures, and public gatherings, making it a well-known landmark in Collins Park.
One of its most distinctive features is the sand-cast concrete mural titled “The Story of Man,” created by artist Albert Vrana, which wraps around the building’s sculptural exterior and remains an important piece of public art.
When the original library building was demolished in the 1980s, the rotunda structure itself was preserved due to its cultural and architectural significance.
