The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a nationwide recall of approximately 9,400 CreateOn Crayola-branded pip-Cube magnetic building sets after officials identified a risk of serious injury or death due to the potential ingestion of loose magnets.
The recall affects Bold Colors and Glitter sets, available in 24-piece and 27-piece packs, sold between May and July 2025.
Danger of Loose Magnets
The CPSC warned that if high-powered magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other or other metal objects inside the digestive system. This can lead to perforations, twisting, or blockages in the intestines, as well as blood poisoning and even death.
Officials emphasized the severity of the hazard, urging consumers to immediately stop using the recalled sets and to keep them away from children.

The recalled sets include:

Manufacturer Response
The kits were manufactured in China and imported by CreateOn LLC, based in Wheeling, Illinois.
CreateOn confirmed that three incidents related to the issue have occurred, though no injuries have been reported. The company stated:
“We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and are committed to resolving it quickly and transparently.”
Replacement and Return Instructions
Consumers are advised to contact CreateOn to receive a replacement set. The company will provide a pre-paid label to return the recalled cubes.
The CPSC emphasized that children should not use the recalled magnetic building cubes until the replacement units are received, highlighting the potential risk of severe injury or fatality.
Consumer Safety Reminder
Parents and caregivers are urged to inspect their homes for recalled magnetic building kits and report any hazards to the CPSC. This recall serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance with children’s toys, especially those containing small, high-powered magnets.
