50501, a group that emerged in early 2025 and is short for “50 protests, 50 states, one day,” has called their latest series of demonstrations “Workers Over Billionaires.”
Background
Since assuming office in January, Trump has faced multiple coordinated protests from different groups. Demonstrators have spoken out against his cuts to government departments, strict immigration policies, and handling of the economy, among other issues.
Previous protests have taken place on Memorial Day weekend, Flag Day, and Trump’s birthday. Another was held in Scotland during his recent visit.
While the protests aim to put pressure on the president and challenge his claims of broad support, Trump still remains popular with his base.
When and Where
The protests are scheduled for Labor Day, September 1, a federal holiday established in 1894 to honor workers’ contributions to the nation.
Organizers have shared a map highlighting protest sites across the country.
Key Demands
The group has outlined the following demands:
- End billionaire influence over government.
- Protect Medicaid, Social Security, and other worker programs.
- Ensure fully funded schools, health care, and housing for all.
- Stop attacks on immigrants, Black, Indigenous, trans people, and marginalized communities.
- Prioritize investment in people over wars.

In addition to these protests, the AFL-CIO is planning nationwide rallies on Labor Day to push for stronger worker protections.
