Montgomery County, OH – Deputies are searching for a woman accused of stealing more than $830,000 from a local medical practice, a case that investigators say unfolded over several years and involved extensive financial mismanagement by a trusted employee.
Major Theft Investigation Targets Former Business Manager
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in July 2025 after the department received a report of suspected employee theft from a medical practice in the county. Staff at the practice had discovered a growing pattern of unauthorized financial transactions, prompting them to contact authorities.
Detectives learned that Jamie Grant, 45, of Marysville, was employed as the practice’s business manager. Her responsibilities included billing, payroll, and handling financial operations, giving her broad access to company funds.
Detectives Detail Years of Misappropriated Funds
As investigators conducted interviews and reviewed financial records, they uncovered evidence of long-term misappropriation. Detectives later determined that Grant allegedly diverted more than $834,000 in company money for personal use.
The sheriff’s office said in a statement posted on social media that:
“Throughout the investigation, Grant admitted to using the business’s funds for personal expenses.”
Officials described the theft as significant both in duration and financial impact, affecting the daily operations of the medical practice and prompting a comprehensive audit of its financial procedures.
Grand Jury Indictment Issued
On Wednesday, a Montgomery County grand jury indicted Grant on one count of aggravated theft involving more than $750,000. The felony charge reflects the severity of the alleged financial losses and the extended period during which the theft reportedly occurred.
Following the indictment, deputies announced that Grant is now formally wanted in connection with the case. Authorities have been working to locate her and are urging the public to assist if possible.
Authorities Request Public Assistance
Deputies are asking anyone who may have information about Grant’s current location to contact the Regional Dispatch Center at (937) 225-4357. Community members can also submit anonymous tips to Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at (937) 222-STOP (7867).
Cases like this, officials noted, highlight the importance of regular financial oversight within medical and small business operations, particularly in roles where employees manage billing or payroll without direct supervision.
Community Impact and Ongoing Review
Financial crimes at local practices can disrupt patient services, harm business stability, and erode trust within the community. As the investigation continues, authorities emphasized that additional details may be released as they work to bring Grant into custody and complete their review of the practice’s financial records.
