A woman from New Jersey has announced that she will be taking legal action against a day care centre because the facility has failed to provide her with any explanation regarding the disappearance of one of her “cornrow” hair braids from her daughter’s head when she returned home last week. The day care centre claims that they were unable to determine whether or not her child “pulled it out” on her own or whether something more sinister occurred.
During an interview with the New York ABC station WABC, Tamara Hemingway discussed her daughter Myla and the events that transpired in her life. “You have to use some type of force for a braid to be removed,” she claimed.
The hair was braided all the way down to her scalp since it had a cornrow, according to Hemingway. I don’t know who could have done that, but I know as a matter of fact that she or a child would not have done that. There is no way that could have happened.
The mother expressed her rage to WABC after discovering that her child had returned home from the Growing Kids Academy in Ocean Township with the braid that had been missing until the previous week. She had received a notification from a worker at the school that she believed a braid was missing but was unsure of its location. In order to verify her suspicions, she emailed Hemingway a photograph.
Hemingway stated, “That’s when I saw the big bald spot on my child’s head with the braid missing.” He noted that the braid was absent. “I am due to receive notification from them. share whatever little information you do have regarding the occurrence till you look into it further and confirm it. Just to be fair, like, share whatever facts you do have. But nobody even bothered to give me a call in order to simply inform me of that very small piece of information.
Marc Caswell, the attorney for Hemingway, stated in an interview with WABC that the aspect of the case that bothers him the most is the fact that the facility reportedly “deflected” and told his client “various different things” about what might have occurred, including putting the blame on Myla.
Caswell stated that they were unaware of whether or not her child had taken it out. “At first, they were unaware of what had taken place; they claimed that they were completely unaware that it had even taken place.”
As a result of the event, Hemingway has pulled her daughter from the day care facility, and she has stated that the child is now more sensitive to the sensation of other people touching her hair.
She expressed her feelings to WABC, saying, “I am very upset and I am very frustrated because this is my child.” What took place is something that she is unable to explain to me. To put it simply, the fact that they are so insensitive is the most disturbing aspect of the situation. I was not even contacted by anyone to enquire about her well-being or to find out how she was doing.
Although Caswell and Hemingway stated that they would file a lawsuit against Growing Kids Academy and its employees, they did not provide any additional information regarding the legal action that they would pursue against them. According to a day care worker who spoke with Law & Crime on Wednesday, there was no one accessible to comment on the allegations that are being made.
In response to a question about whether or not she had any information regarding the matter, the female employee stated, “All I know is that it is unsubstantiated.” That there has been no discovery made.”
