Minnesota Ice Festival Makes a Stunning Comeback: Canceled Last Year Due to Warm Winter, Ready for a Grand Return

Minnesota Ice Festival Makes a Stunning Comeback: Canceled Last Year Due to Warm Winter, Ready for a Grand Return. The brisk air is just what Minnesota Ice CEO Robbie Harrell needs to make sure this year’s celebration at Vikings Lakes doesn’t melt away, especially when temperatures peaked at 25 degrees on Tuesday.

Many were left waiting for winter about this time last year. Harrell was forced to cancel the Minnesota Ice Festival due to the unusually warm winter.

“It’s the right decision out of safety, out of respect for the team,” he stated in 2023. “You’d hate to stand something up fully and have it collapse a week or two weeks later.”

However, a year can make a big difference.

“I’m feeling really upbeat this year, which is nice. We had our blinders on a little last year,” Harrell remarked.

With almost two million pounds of ice, the Minnesota Vikings practice field is starting to be transformed into a winter paradise.

Four semi-trucks, each weighing roughly 40,000 pounds, were brought in. About 425 pounds make up each block of ice, according to Harrell.

The goal of the resurrected ice labyrinth, ice slide, skating, ice sculptures, and carving competition is to shatter the world record for the largest ice maze.

TCO Stadium will host the Minnesota Ice Festival from January 10 to February 16. Children aged 5 to 14 get tickets for $12.99, while adults aged 15 and above get tickets for $24.99. Children under five enter free of charge.
