Located at 325 NW 28th Street, the 7,500-square-foot destination will offer a fresh alternative to Miami’s nightlife scene—focusing on saunas, cold plunges, and social connection instead of bottle service.
A New Kind of Wellness Experience
Developed by Nathan Kaplan and Nick Anselmo, Grotto Baths draws inspiration from ancient bathhouse traditions where wellness and social interaction were deeply connected.
At the core of the experience is a thermal circuit, guiding guests through a sequence of restorative environments:
- Ceremonial sauna
- Infrared sauna
- Steam room
- Thermal bath
- Mineral pool
- Cold plunge
This cycle of heat and cooling is designed to promote relaxation, circulation, and recovery, while encouraging guests to slow down and be present.
More Than a Spa: A Social and Cultural Hub
Unlike traditional spas, Grotto Baths is built around community and shared experiences.
The venue will host:
- Breathwork classes
- Somatic movement sessions
- Wellness workshops
A 2,500-square-foot outdoor lounge will provide space for guests to relax and connect, while an alcohol-free bar and café encourages a more mindful social atmosphere.
Culinary Program With a Wellness Twist
The food and beverage concept is led by Erik Oberholtzer, founder of Tender Greens.
Guests can expect:
- Seasonal, locally sourced dishes
- Adaptogenic drinks designed for wellness
- Ingredients sourced from regional farms
The goal is to create a thoughtful dining experience, moving beyond the typical juice bar model.
Design Inspired by Nature and Miami Culture
The bathhouse’s interiors are being crafted by Antoinette Marie Johnson in collaboration with Stokes Architecture + Design.

Adding a local artistic touch, Emmett Moore is contributing sculptural installations made from reclaimed South Florida materials, inspired by coral rock and mid-century architecture.

This approach aligns with the venue’s mission to create authentic, in-person connections in a digital-heavy world.

The project also benefits from the involvement of Darryl Gibson, known for his work with The Standard Spa in Miami Beach.
