Oct. 25—A grand jury indicted two men for allegedly attempting to rob a TV cameraman and striking him with a cane while he was shooting a story in Dayton.

Christian Morrow, 25, and Billith Lane, 58, face one count of robbery in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. They’ll be arraigned on Tuesday.

According to Dayton Municipal Court documents, at 5:16 p.m. on October 17, a TV cameraman was prepared to tape a story about a fire at the intersection of East Fifth and South Main streets.

One of the men allegedly attempted to steal the camera equipment. According to court documents, the second man used a walking cane to beat the cameraman during the struggle.

Morrow and Lane then left the region.

The cameraman sustained minor injuries.

According to reports, surveillance cameras captured the incident. Dayton police shared a surveillance image of the suspect and asked the public for help identifying them.

Both individuals were apprehended on October 18 following an anonymous tip.

The bond for both men was set at $10,000 earlier this week.
