by Saugus, Massachusetts — A Massachusetts man, identified as 48-year-old Bruce Maiben, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of first-degree murder for the brutal killing of his ex-girlfriend, 40-year-old Sherell Pringle.
The sentencing took place on Monday, November 3, following a jury verdict that found Maiben guilty of one of the most horrific domestic violence cases in recent years.
A Relationship That Turned Deadly
According to prosecutors, Pringle, a mother of a teenage son, was stabbed more than 217 times after telling Maiben she was “done with him.” Investigators revealed that Maiben had previously entered her home illegally and threatened her with a knife, according to court documents cited by Boston.com.
Pringle went missing in the early morning hours of December 19, 2021, and her body was discovered two days later in the Rumney Marsh Reservation in Saugus, about ten miles north of Boston.

Heartbreaking Words from the Victim’s Mother
During Maiben’s sentencing, Pringle’s mother, Pearl Garner, delivered an emotional victim impact statement, expressing anger, grief, and disbelief at the brutality of her daughter’s death.
“You don’t deserve to be walking here,” she said in court, according to Boston25News. “You will get what you deserve because God don’t like ugly. I hope you rot in hell for what you did.”
Garner revealed that her daughter’s injuries were so severe that the family was forced to hold a closed-casket funeral. “She didn’t deserve this. My baby had a beautiful life ahead of her,” she said.
Remembering Sherell Pringle
According to her obituary, Pringle worked for a medical group and was described as ambitious, loving, and full of life.
“She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and taking pictures,” her obituary read. “Our queen was a natural-born leader. She was very ambitious and an amazing mother.”
Just before her death, Pringle had made an offer on a new home, which was approved after she passed away, according to Boston25News.
