Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following DeKalb Stabbing Incident

DEKALB, Ill. – A woman was stabbed Friday night, leaving her in serious condition. A 44-year-old man is now charged with attempted murder.

Edgar S. Perkins turned himself in to a police officer from Northern Illinois University not long after what happened, which police say happened around midnight in the 800 block of Greenbrier Road.

When the police arrived, they found the victim, who had been stabbed many times in the body and limbs. After being taken to Kishwaukee Hospital, she was flown to a hospital in Rockford, where she is still in critical but stable condition. She should be able to get better.

According to the cops, Perkins was married to the victim, but they had been split up for a long time.

A second charge against Perkins is aggravated domestic abuse. The third charge is aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held in the DeKalb County Jail. His first court date is still to come.
