Levelland Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash in Terry County

Terry County, TX – Authorities have confirmed the identity of a 66-year-old Levelland man who died in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday evening. The incident occurred along a rural roadway and remains under investigation.

Crash Overview

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash was reported around 7:16 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of County Road 200. Troopers arrived to find the driver, Tommie Hernandez, unresponsive inside the overturned vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sequence of Events

Investigators believe Hernandez was driving a 2007 Chevrolet 2500 HD eastbound on CR 200 when the vehicle veered into a soft barrow ditch along the north side of the roadway.
Officials say the pickup overcorrected, entered a side skid, and rolled before coming to rest. Hernandez sustained fatal injuries in the rollover.

Safety Factors

Authorities noted Hernandez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. DPS did not immediately release information regarding road conditions, speed, or other potential contributing factors.

Ongoing Investigation

Officials say additional details will be released once the investigation is complete. At this stage, it is not clear whether mechanical issues, driver impairment, or environmental conditions played a role.
