A guy from Kansas City died on Wednesday from the injuries he got from being bitten by dogs several times last week.
Around 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, Kansas City police were called to the 3200 block of E 80th St. because of reports of an animal attack, according to Capt. Jake Becchina of the Kansas City Police Department.
Becchina says that when the cops arrived, the dogs were still attacking the man, but the officers were able to scare them away.
When police arrived at the scene of the attack, they saw that a woman had also been attacked and had major injuries to her limbs.
Both people who were bitten by dogs were taken to a nearby hospital, where the man died on Wednesday after his injuries got worse.
As of Thursday night, no more information was available about the woman’s injuries.
Animal control agents will continue to be a part of the investigation into the attack, according to Becchina. The Kansas City Pet Project joined the probe not long after the attack.
“The KCPD is still looking into this tragic event, and our Animal Services Division is in touch with them and helping them,” said Tori Fugate, chief communications officer for the KCPP.
As per the American Veterinary Association, about 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs in the US each year. As per the National Library of Medicine, 30 to 50 of these bites turn into attacks that kill every year.
