High-Speed Chase Through Buckhead Ends in Crash; Driver Linked to Armed Robberies

Theresa May – Monday evening, a vehicle that was wanted in connection with a string of armed robberies was involved in a collision at a busy crossroads in Buckhead.

The person who was inside was wanted by the DeKalb County Police Department in connection with a robbery that occurred at Chick-fil-A around a few minutes before the collision.

There was a robbery that occurred at the Chick-fil-A that is situated in the 600 block of Decatur Village Way, which is located just off of U.S. 78. DeKalb County Police responded to the scene at approximately 8:40 p.m. When the officers arrived, they discovered that a number of employees had been pepper sprayed. A witness reported to the police that a suspect had stolen a cash drawer from a drive-thru register and then fled the site of the crime.

The DeKalb County Police Department stated that the vehicle in question had been connected to three further robberies that had occurred since Sunday morning. Two of these robberies had taken place in DeKalb County, while the third take place in Sandy Springs.

The vehicle of the suspect was identified by the Atlanta Police Department less than an hour after the event that occurred inside Chick-fil-A, and an attempt was made to begin a traffic stop. As a result of the driver’s escape, a collision occurred at the intersection of Peachtree and Piedmont roads, which is located in the middle of Buckhead.

There was a large amount of wreckage and broken glass that was dispersed throughout the intersection. At the southeast corner of the crossroads, close to the entrance to a shopping centre, the vehicle came to a stop on the sidewalk with its front facing south. The front end of the vehicle exhibited significant damage.

The Atlanta Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol arrived at the scene of the collision. As crews examined and cleared the debris, a portion of Piedmont Road was briefly cut off to traffic.

To receive medical attention, the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital. There is still an ongoing investigation.
