Hawaiian Airlines is suspending nonstop service between Boston and Hawaii

Hawaiian Airlines said Tuesday that it will be operating its final nonstop flight from Boston to Hawaii this fall.

With the final flight scheduled for November 19, the airline is discontinuing nonstop service between Logan International Airport and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.

The airline is cutting three underperforming flights, including the Boston route, which is operated four times a week. The others are located between Fukuoka, Japan, and Honolulu and Incheon, South Korea.

The 5,095-mile journey, which started in 2019 and took 11 hours and 40 minutes from Boston, was touted as the longest domestic route ever routinely scheduled in American history.

In a statement, Hawaiian Airlines CEO Joe Sprague stated, “It’s always a difficult decision to suspend a route, especially in cities like Seoul, which we have enjoyed serving for over 14 years.” However, despite the best efforts of our staff, Seoul, Fukuoka, and Boston—all of which we joined in 2019—have continued to face market hurdles and lackluster post-pandemic travel demand from Asia.

The airline said affected passengers will be refunded or put on alternative flights.

According to AirlineGeeks.com, Delta Air Lines halted its Boston to Hawaii route earlier this year in order to accommodate customer demand. The final trip is scheduled for November 20. In 2024, Delta began offering nonstop service between Boston and Honolulu.
