Georgia High School Teacher Arrested in Alleged Case Involving Minor Student

Leesburg, Georgia — A South Georgia high school teacher has been arrested following allegations of inappropriate contact with a minor student, according to state and local authorities.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Danielle Weaver, 29, of Leesburg, has been charged with child molestation and improper sexual contact by an employee, agent, or foster parent.

Investigation Began in Early February

Officials said the investigation started on Feb. 3, when Lee County High School administrators contacted the Leesburg Police Department to report allegations involving a teacher and a student.

The GBI was asked to assist in the investigation the following day. After reviewing initial information, investigators identified Weaver as the subject of the case. Authorities confirmed the alleged victim is a student under the age of 18 at Lee County High School.

GBI agents continued working alongside local law enforcement over the following weeks. On Tuesday, investigators secured arrest warrants for Weaver.

Teacher Turned Herself In

Weaver turned herself in to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday. She was later released on bond, according to local media reports.

Authorities have not released details about the nature of the alleged contact, citing the ongoing investigation and the involvement of a minor.

Case Headed to Prosecutors

The GBI emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Once investigators complete their review, the case file will be forwarded to the Southwestern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, which will determine how to proceed with prosecution.

Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with additional information related to the case to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
