Frito-Lay Recalls Miss Vickie’s Chips in 6 States Over Undeclared Milk Allergen

Dallas, Texas — Snack giant Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall of certain bags of Miss Vickie’s Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips after discovering the product may contain an undeclared milk allergen.

The recall was announced after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration published an alert about the issue on March 4, one day after the company disclosed the problem.

Officials say the affected bags could contain jalapeño-flavored potato chips, which may include milk ingredients not listed on the packaging.

Chips Sold in Six States

According to the recall notice, the affected chips were distributed in six states across the southern United States.

The states include:

Arkansas
Louisiana
Mississippi
New Mexico
Oklahoma
Texas

The recalled products were sold at grocery stores, convenience stores, and drugstores, and may also have been purchased through some online or local digital retailers.

Officials say the chips could have been on store shelves as early as January 15.

How to Identify the Recalled Bags

Consumers are advised to check their snack bags for specific identifiers linked to the recall.

The affected products include 8-ounce bags of Miss Vickie’s Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips with:

UPC: 0 28400761772
“Guaranteed Fresh” Date: April 21, 2026
Manufacturing Codes: 38U301414 or 48U101514

The company warned that the bags may contain jalapeño-flavored chips that could include milk, which is not listed on the product label.

Health Risk for People With Milk Allergies

While the chips are considered safe for consumers without dairy allergies, officials say the undeclared allergen could pose a serious health risk for some people.

Individuals with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity to dairy could experience serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the affected product.

Frito-Lay said the issue was discovered after the company received a report from a consumer.

No Allergic Reactions Reported So Far

Parent company PepsiCo stated that, as of now, no allergic reactions related to the recalled chips have been reported.

The company also emphasized that the recall is limited to a specific batch of the product.

No other Miss Vickie’s products are included in the recall, including variety packs that contain the Spicy Dill Pickle flavor.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers who purchased the affected bags are advised not to eat the chips if they have a milk allergy.

Customers can contact the company’s customer support line at 1-877-984-2543 for additional information about the recall.

Food safety officials say checking product packaging and lot codes is the best way to determine whether a purchased item is part of a recall.
