Four-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shoots Himself Inside Home Also Filled with Snakes, Say Police

As a result of their son, who was only four years old at the time, getting his hands on an unlocked weapon and accidently shooting himself at home, which was reportedly stuffed with snakes and a juvenile crocodile, the mother and father of the child are currently doing time in prison in Alabama.

When the boy’s mother, Cassandra Lynn Lutz, who is 39 years old, was at the hospital, she made it very clear that she was not the person responsible for the shooting, according to the police.

According to allegations made by Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon to reporters during a news conference this week, “The mother was in the hospital with the child yelling at him making statements like’see, this is what happens when you play with guns.'”

The youngster presented himself at the hospital on the morning of April 4 with a gunshot wound to both his arm and leg, which prompted the emergency response team to arrive at the facility. In response to the deputies’ question about what had occurred, the young kid stated, “I was shot by a gun.”

According to Moon, the police were able to secure a search warrant for the residence, where they discovered a number of “interesting pieces of evidence.” A young crocodile and about thirty snakes, six of which were dead, were among the items that were discovered by the detectives. In addition to marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the team discovered many firearms that were left unlocked.

In the house, the snakes were maintained in aquariums that were kept inside. According to what Moon said, the enclosures that contained both the living snakes and the deceased snakes were the same. According to Moon, the crocodile was swimming within a tank that was situated inside of a restroom. According to Moon, it is against the law to keep a crocodile inside of a residence. The crocodile and snakes were taken into custody by officials from the fish and wildlife department.

There are a number of allegations that have been brought against Lutz and the boy’s father, Alexander Corrie, who is 27 years old. These charges include first-degree assault, animal cruelty, and possession of a forbidden animal.

After hearing a gunshot, the parents reported to the investigators that they were present at the residence. The youngster was suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived at the scene of the crime. A belt was used as a tourniquet, and the youngster was brought to the hospital in their truck as quickly as possible. Later on, he was transported to a children’s hospital via helicopter.

Lutz and Corrie came to an agreement that they would undergo an interview at the sheriff’s office.

“The mother did make a statement that she was terrified to death that the state of Alabama was going to take her children away from her, and that is exactly what we did,” Moon said. “We did what she said.”

Both Lutz and Corrie are still being held at the Blount County Jail. As of Tuesday, the young kid was still being treated at the hospital.

The statement made by Moon was, “We are just very thankful that he is alive and will make a full recovery.”
