Fort Worth Woman Killed After Bullet Pierces Home, Police Investigate Possible Earlier Gunfire

Fort Worth, Texas — A woman was fatally shot inside her Fort Worth home Friday night after a bullet entered the residence from outside, prompting an active homicide investigation and renewed concern among neighbors about gunfire in the area.

Officers with the Fort Worth Police Department say the incident occurred in the 3400 block of Tahiti Lane, where emergency responders were initially dispatched following a report of a medical emergency.

Emergency call first reported as a fall

According to police, the Fort Worth Fire Department responded to the home at approximately 8:51 p.m. after receiving a call that a woman had fallen inside the residence. First responders transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

Later that night, investigators were notified that the woman’s injuries were not the result of a fall — but instead caused by a gunshot wound.

Adding to the mystery, police confirmed that officers received a shots fired call in the same area approximately one hour before the medical emergency was reported.

“There was a shots fired call in the area about an hour earlier,” — FWPD officials said.

Investigators are now examining whether the two incidents are connected. Police have not said whether any shell casings were recovered or whether the earlier call involved multiple shots.

Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood, reviewing surveillance video from nearby homes and businesses, and speaking with residents who may have heard or seen something unusual Friday evening.
