Florida Highway Patrol Searches for Driver After Double-Victim Hit-and-Run on Silver Star Road

Orlando, FL – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle and driver who fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run late Monday night in Orange County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two people were struck in the chaotic incident, including a pedestrian who later died at the hospital.

Incident Overview

FHP reported that the crash took place around 11 p.m. Monday on Silver Star Road near Le Harve Blvd. Investigators say a 2003 Honda Accord was traveling east in the center lane when a man walking south attempted to cross the roadway outside a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian entered the eastbound lanes, where the Honda collided with him.

Troopers stated that the Honda driver stopped immediately and got out to help the injured pedestrian.

Second Vehicle Strikes Both the Pedestrian and the Driver

Moments later, a second vehicle — described as a gray or blue Chevy Malibu — was also traveling eastbound on Silver Star Road. According to FHP, the Malibu struck both the pedestrian and the Honda driver as they were in the roadway.

Witnesses provided a brief description of the Malibu driver, identifying him as an adult Black male wearing a black hoodie. They said he stopped briefly to check on the victims before fleeing the scene.

Authorities noted that the Malibu should show front-end damage and is likely missing its driver’s side mirror.

Victim Outcome and Injuries

First responders transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Honda driver suffered minor injuries.

Investigators Seek Public Assistance
Troopers are urging anyone who may have seen the Malibu, its driver, or who may have surveillance footage from the area to come forward. Tips can be shared anonymously through local Crimeline services.

Community Safety Reminder
Pedestrian-involved crashes continue to be a major safety concern across Central Florida. FHP is reiterating the importance of using marked crosswalks, improving nighttime visibility, and slowing down in heavily traveled corridors.

If you live or work near Silver Star Road and noticed a damaged Chevy Malibu matching the description, authorities are asking for your information as it could help move the investigation forward.
