LAKE CHARLES, La. – It looks like it will rain more in SWLA on Saturday, and it will cover a lot of ground.
A cold front will come in from the west, bringing SWLA a lot of rain and thunderstorms. If you have plans to be outside, it’s best to have at least one indoor activity you can do instead. There may still be times when you can go outside, like in the morning, though it might rain then too.
It looks like the front will stop near or over SWLA. There will probably be a slow-moving band of showers and storms along it, which will have a big effect on the total amount of rain that falls. There is a chance that bend stalls outside of our area, would lower the totals. But if it stays over us, we might get between 4 and 6 inches of rain in some places, and up to 8 inches in others by Sunday morning. So, pay attention to the weather! That means flash floods could happen in some places by late Saturday night.
Sunday will be better because it won’t rain as much. After all, the front will move east and push the rain away. For now, there is a 20% chance of rain in the forecast, just in case there is still a shower around. If not, it will still be warm, with lows in the upper 60s and highs in the low 80s.
The weather for Monday and Tuesday looks pretty good, though it will still be warmer than usual for this time of year. The lows will be in the upper 50s to low 60s, and the highs will be in the low 80s.
By the middle of next week, the next cold front will be coming toward our area. It should arrive on Thursday. Some rain may come with this, but it doesn’t look like it will rain right now.
Behind this front, it will be much cooler, with lows in the 40s and 50s by the end of the week! Also, afternoon highs will be more average, with most places only getting to the mid-70s.
Since Rafael is still far south of Louisiana, it is not expected to have any effect on SWLA.
