Federal, State Authorities Seize Additional Firearms in Ongoing Probe of Pawtucket Arena Shooting

Pawtucket, Rhode Island — Federal and state investigators have seized multiple firearms, ammunition and other items as part of the continuing investigation into the deadly shooting at an ice arena in Pawtucket earlier this week.

According to reports, agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with Rhode Island State Police and local departments, executed search warrants at properties connected to Robert Dorgan.

The coordinated searches took place at a residence in Bath, Maine, and a storage facility in Brunswick, Maine.

Weapons and Evidence Recovered

During the searches, authorities reportedly recovered several firearms and related materials.

Items seized included:

  • An AR-15 style rifle
  • A sawed-off shotgun
  • A handgun frame
  • Ammunition
  • Weapon accessories
  • Identification documents
  • An electronic device

Law enforcement has not publicly specified the type of electronic device recovered or what information it may contain. Officials have also not detailed whether the seized firearms were used in the Pawtucket attack.

According to reports, the AR-15 style rifle and sawed-off shotgun were located in the Brunswick storage unit, along with mail addressed to Dorgan. Meanwhile, additional ammunition, documentation and electronic materials were reportedly recovered from the Bath residence.

Authorities confirmed that the seized weapons and ammunition will be sent to a Rhode Island crime laboratory for forensic testing.

Investigators also searched a work locker associated with Dorgan, but no items of evidentiary value were reportedly found there.

Surveillance Footage Led to Maine Searches

Officials said surveillance video from Dennis M. Lynch Arena helped direct investigators to the Maine properties.

Footage reportedly captured a white van with Maine license plates, which ultimately led authorities to the suspect’s residence and storage unit. Law enforcement has not released additional details about what investigators hope to uncover from the seized materials.

Details of the Arena Shooting

The fatal shooting unfolded at the Pawtucket ice arena earlier this week. Authorities previously stated that Dorgan was armed with a Glock 29 10mm handgun and a Sig Sauer P226 during the incident.

Police said he fatally shot his former spouse and their adult son before taking his own life.

Several other individuals were injured during the attack and remain hospitalized. Officials have not provided updated medical details but indicated that some victims remain in serious condition.

Law enforcement has not publicly disclosed a formal motive for the shooting. However, family members have described long-standing personal conflict.

Broader Investigation Continues

Authorities emphasized that the case remains active and ongoing, with investigators reviewing surveillance footage, digital evidence and forensic results.

The seizure of additional firearms from out-of-state locations underscores the scope of the investigation, as agencies work to determine whether any of the weapons were connected to the incident or intended for future use.

Officials have not indicated whether additional charges are possible or whether others may face scrutiny as part of the probe.

Community members in Pawtucket and beyond continue to grapple with the aftermath of the tragedy. The investigation now spans multiple states as law enforcement agencies coordinate efforts to piece together a clearer timeline of events.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact local authorities.

As investigators continue processing evidence, many are asking broader questions about access to firearms and warning signs before violence occurs.
