Father Found Guilty of Opening Fire at His Child’s Birthday Party Inside Harford Mall

Father Found Guilty of Opening Fire at His Child’s Birthday Party Inside Harford Mall. BALTIMORE — Harford County State’s Attorney Alison Healy said that Wesley Lyons Jr. was convicted of firing at his child’s birthday celebration inside the Harford Mall last June.

Among other gun-related offenses, Lyons, 35, was found guilty of attempted second-degree murder. It was a four-day trial.

Lyons reportedly fired multiple rounds during a fight at the Harford Bounce Party Place, according to the police. According to the police, a 42-year-old male who was assisting with the party setup for Lyons’ 1-year-old was shot in the finger, groin, and thigh while attempting to break up the altercation.

Lyons took a few seconds to clear a route before firing the revolver five times at the victim, according to authorities, and a struggle broke out between Lyons’ mother and the mother of the one-year-old.

Following the incident, Lyons led authorities on a manhunt that lasted for a month until he was discovered hiding in a hotel room in Anne Arundel County.

Due to their suspected involvement in the incident, Lyons’ mother, Lisa Gregg, and his putative girlfriend, Lateia Green, were both taken into custody.

According to authorities, surveillance footage revealed two additional individuals and two children standing behind the injured man.

Due to a 2009 conviction for robbery and a 2017 conviction for possession with intent to distribute, Lyons was not allowed to own a firearm.

“Anyone turning to gun violence to deal with their problems is reprehensible. But Wesley Lyons’ choice to carry out this horrible and extremely violent crime at a one-year-old child’s birthday party particularly horrifies me,” Healy stated. This is made worse by the fact that, while they were merely attempting to celebrate a youngster in a bouncy castle in a public setting like the Harford Mall, he did so in front of numerous other kids and adults, putting them all in danger. With him behind bars, Harford County will be a safer place for many years to come.

The date of Lyons’ sentence is set for February 13, 2025.
