South Bend, IN – A South Bend man was killed Wednesday night in a motorcycle accident on Eddy Street, and a police investigation is underway into the cause of the fatal wreck.

The South Bend Police Department says that officers were dispatched at about 7:15 p.m. March 26 to the 500 block of South Eddy Street after a report of a serious motorcycle accident. Preliminary investigation shows the motorcyclist, traveling southbound near Jefferson Intermediate School, lost control and was thrown into a northbound vehicle.

Authorities indicated the adult male was the only person on the motorcycle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His name is being withheld until family members can be notified.

Police indicated speed is thought to be a factor in the accident. The investigation continues, and no additional information has been released about the other vehicle involved or possible citations.
