In the afternoon of Tuesday, a man from Fontana, who was 51 years old, was reportedly shot and killed inside his home by his father-in-law, who then turned himself in to the authorities.
Although there is a lack of information and it is not quite obvious how the alleged shooting took place, the Fontana Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 6700 block of Winter Night Court just before 4 o’clock in the afternoon.
Officers arrived at the site and discovered the victim, who was named as Joshua Allen Fordham, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound in his garage. He had returned home from his job as a nurse in a nearby hospital with the intention of going home.
Witnesses told Sandra Mitchell of KTLA that the suspect in the incident, Richard Allen Parker, who was 83 years old, turned himself over to the officers who were responding to the scene without putting up any resistance.
The aerial footage of the Fontana home that was recorded by Sky5 showed a number of police vehicles parked in front of the residence that Fordham and his wife share together. During the time that detectives were conducting interviews with potential witnesses and searching the surroundings for evidence, yellow police tape was used to block individuals from entering the property.
Neighbors informed KTLA that there had been recent difficulty inside the home, with some of them reporting that they overheard loud arguments and altercations between Fordham and his wife. The cause for the shooting is unknown, although neighbors have stated that there had been conflicts inside the home.
In an interview with KTLA, a neighbor named Tara Whitfield stated, “My husband had witnessed some situation in which the husband and wife had fought in the past, where the husband had pushed the wife down.” According to the statement, “He threw her to the ground while she was holding groceries.”
The scenario on the street was frightening, according to another neighbor who only goes by the name Pete. Pete also mentioned that a man he has known and lived close to for a number of years had recently passed away.
Public safety officials emphasized that there was no ongoing danger to the general public, despite the fact that the situation in the Fontana area continued to be active.
