A automobile that was driving recklessly down the Eisenhower and Dan Ryan expressways during the afternoon rush hour on Thursday prompted the police to engage in a high-speed pursuit behind the vehicle.
When the black Hyundai Sonata was seen driving on the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side of Chicago, the police began to follow it. The automobile was wanted for evading capture and fleeing from Oak Brook, which is located in the west suburbs.
The Illinois State Police, the Chicago Police Department, the Oak Brook Police Department, and the Villa Park Police Department were also involved in the pursuit.
Police pursued the motorist all the way to the Randolph Street exit on the Kennedy Expressway in the west Loop. This occurred after the driver had passed the Jane Byrne Interchange. On the streets in the neighborhood, law enforcement officers were observed with their weapons drawn and attempting to apprehend the motorist; however, the car reversed and fled the scene.
In the end, the driver was driving south on the Dan Ryan Expressway with the hazard lights on. He was weaving in and out of traffic, using the emergency lanes, and trying to squeeze past multiple other vehicles while crashing into them.
At the very least, five automobiles were struck.
It appears that the driver collided with a semi-trailer vehicle as soon as they reached the exit for Garfield Boulevard on the Dan Ryan.
It was observed that a woman completely dressed in green exited the driver’s seat of the vehicle and ran across the freeway. A woman was eventually taken into custody after the presence of law enforcement, ambulances, and fire vehicles was observed in the vicinity.
It was also observed that officers were carrying a man into arrest. It was not apparent whether he was in the same car that the police were currently following.
