As shuttle buses take the place of rail service between the Airport and Wonderland stations in the coming weeks, MBTA officials are cautioning Blue Line passengers to factor in additional time for their journeys.
According to the MBTA, the planned shutdown is one of several service interruptions in August that will allow for ongoing reconstruction efforts and guarantee that other track segments are brought up to the same level of good maintenance that supports dependable and strong operation.
According to MBTA officials, the work will be concentrated on heavy track repair, infrastructure improvements, and other key regeneration projects.
The MBTA stated on Monday that riders should allow additional time for this repair.

A decades-old cable collapsed inside the subway tube last month, trapping hundreds of Blue Line passengers beneath Boston Harbor. According to officials, it served as an illustration of the need of making proactive investments in T infrastructure.
Subway service between the Airport and Wonderland will be discontinued during the shutdown, which began on August 9 and will expire on August 17. Shuttle buses will make all stops between the two stations during this time.
Given that rides will likely take 20 to 30 minutes longer than usual, the MBTA has been advising passengers to factor in plenty of extra time for travel.
Last month, the MBTA advised passengers taking the normal Blue Line train between Bowdoin and Airport to allow additional time for travel. There will be roughly ten minutes between each weekday train, which is roughly twice as long as it usually is.
