Decatur Police Arrest Seven Men in Online Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Operation

Decatur, Alabama – A 10-day law enforcement operation aimed at identifying individuals who target minors online resulted in seven arrests and 16 charges, including human trafficking, electronic solicitation of a child, and the production of child sexual abuse material. Decatur police said Monday that the operation was part of a broader strategy to crack down on predators using social media to contact underage children.

Operation Home Alone Reveals Multiple Suspects Targeting Minors

According to investigators, the Decatur Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit launched Operation Home Alone on Nov. 25 to identify adults attempting to engage in unlawful sexual activity with minors. Undercover officers posed as children on various platforms, establishing digital conversations with suspects who believed they were communicating with underage victims. Officers then arranged meeting locations where the men were taken into custody upon arrival.

Police said the operation uncovered a wide range of offenses, from attempts to meet minors for illegal activity to a separate case involving the filming of a nude underage child.

A police spokesperson described the operation’s focus in straightforward terms.

“Our goal is to identify individuals who prey on minors online,” the department said.
“Undercover officers posed as children, and when suspects arrived at the meeting location, they were taken into custody.”

Investigation Expanded After Tip About Filming an Underage Child
During Operation Home Alone, officers received a report involving a separate crime. Investigators said an adult male—later identified as Jalen Nunn—had filmed a child who was fully nude. After identifying him, police secured warrants for the production of child sexual abuse material.

Nunn was arrested on Dec. 5 following the execution of the warrants and is currently being held on a substantial bond due to the severity of the charges.

Separate Earlier Sting Tied to Upcoming Court Hearing

One suspect, Miguel Alonzo, is expected in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Shelly Waters. He will appear alongside Logan Micahl Hansard, 29, who was arrested earlier in an Oct. 25 sting conducted by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

Hansard was charged with electronic solicitation of a child and is being held in lieu of a $150,000 bond. According to an investigator’s affidavit, Hansard communicated with a Sheriff’s Office decoy by text message and agreed to pay $150 for sexual acts with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. He arrived shortly after midnight at the designated location—the Sleep Inn on Beltline Road Southwest—where deputies arrested him upon arrival.

Community Awareness and Online Safety Emphasized

Incidents like these highlight the growing challenges law enforcement faces as offenders increasingly rely on social media and messaging apps to initiate illegal contact with minors. Police encourage parents and guardians to monitor internet activity, talk openly with children about online dangers, and report suspicious behavior immediately.

Investigators emphasized that operations similar to Home Alone will continue as part of ongoing efforts to protect minors in the region.
