Columbus Couple Found Fatally Shot in Home, Children Safe; Homicide Investigation Ongoing

Columbus, Ohio – The family of a Columbus couple is grieving after Spencer Tepe, 37, and Monique Tepe, 39, were found fatally shot in their home Tuesday, leaving their two young children unharmed but traumatized. Authorities are continuing to investigate the mysterious killings in the Weinland Park neighborhood.

Devastating Discovery

Spencer and Monique were discovered during a welfare check after Spencer failed to report to work at Athens Dental Depot. Police found him with multiple gunshot wounds, while Monique suffered at least one gunshot wound to the chest, according to police records.

Their 1-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter were found inside the home, crying but physically unharmed. Authorities confirmed there was no sign of forced entry and no firearm located at the scene, and they do not believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.

A police camera located a few hundred feet from the Tepes’ home may have captured the suspect entering the residence, though the individual remains at large.

Family Remembers a Loving Couple

In a statement, the family described the couple as “extraordinary people whose lives were filled with love.” Monique’s brother, Rob Misleh, said:

“Together, Spencer and Monique shared a beautiful, strong, and deeply happy relationship. They loved to travel, to laugh, and to build a life rooted in love. They were proud parents of two beautiful children and their beloved Goldendoodle, and they created a home filled with warmth, happiness, and connection. We are heartbroken beyond words.”

Spencer, a graduate of Ohio State University and member of the American Dental Association, was remembered as a devoted father, loving husband, and supportive community member, known for his intelligence, warmth, and hospitality. He was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are actively searching for the suspect, whose identity has not been released, and are urging anyone with information to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.

Police confirmed that the home, a four-bedroom residence in the typically quiet Weinland Park neighborhood, showed no signs of forced entry, adding that the motive remains unclear.

Community Reaction

Co-workers and neighbors expressed shock over the tragedy, calling the Tepes warm, loving, and generous individuals. Their children remain in the care of family members while authorities continue their investigation.

The couple’s loss has left the community mourning. Officials emphasized the importance of vigilance and community cooperation to help identify the suspect and ensure the safety of local residents.
