La Crosse, WI – Snow and icy conditions continue to affect central and southwest Wisconsin, making travel conditions dangerous through the early morning hours.
Through 1 AM, snow will continue, with one more inch of accumulation expected, reports the National Weather Service La Crosse. The heaviest snow has hit central Wisconsin, where visibility reduced to below a mile. Snow-covered and slippery roads are making travel difficult enough that authorities have issued caution notices for drivers.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation recommends that motorists check the condition of the road before leaving and, if required, postpone trip times. Cam footage of the snowplows indicates limited visibility and slippery conditions, especially along highways such as I-90 and I-94.
Looking forward, unusually cold temperatures will hang on past the weekend, with periodic opportunities for rain and snow. Highs should reach from the 30s to near the low 50s, with the best opportunity for rain showers on Friday.
Motorists should remain informed about fluctuating conditions and use caution when traveling. Visit 511wi.gov or NWS La Crosse for real-time weather information.
