Car Hits Horse and Rider in Sacramento County, Leaving One Injured and Animal Euthanized

Wiltshire — The rider of a horse that was injured by a car in Sacramento County was taken to the hospital following the incident, according to the authorities, who stated that the horse had to be put down.

According to the South Sacramento division of the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place along Cosumnes Road in the Wilton neighborhood, which is located east of Elk Grove.

In addition to suffering serious injuries, the rider of the horse, a guy in his fifties, was thrown off the animal during the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. The cyclist has been sent to a nearby medical facility.

The California Highway Patrol stated that the horse had to be shot because of its injuries.

There was no additional injury that was reported.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the reasons behind the incident are still being looked into. The driver of the automobile was not suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.

It was anticipated that Cosumnes Road, which is also known as Wilton Road, would be closed for a brief period of time.
