On Monday evening, firefighters arrived to the crossroads of De Maisonneuve and Saint-Laurent boulevards in the Ville-Marie neighbourhood to discover an empty structure that was on fire. The property was located in the middle of the intersection. In an interview with What Now Montreal, co-owner Alexandre Séguin stated that the Cafe Pista site was not directly harmed by the fire; however, it did sustain some secondary damage from smoke and water. Because of this, the cafe will be closed for a short period of time while the crew works to repair the damage that has been done. It was difficult for Séguin to provide a precise timetable for the reopening of the store, mostly due to the fact that inspectors would need to evaluate the damage. However, he did inform What Now that this location will be shuttered for at least three weeks.
In addition to being co-owned by Gabriel Malenfant and Maxime Richard, Cafe Pista is a cafe that is situated in Montreal. It was first a mobile bike cafe, but it has now expanded to three other sites. Both 500 Rue Beaubien East and 2650 Rue Masson are additional locations where the company can be found. All of the locations are equipped with multiple roasters and provide a wide range of coffee options, including chai lattes. Coffee, tea, fresh juices, breakfast bowls, sandwiches, and pastries are some of the items that may be found on the menu. During the time that the team is figuring out how to recover from this catastrophic event, they are encouraging clients to visit the other two sites.
According to the website of the company, “the neighbouring building, which was formerly known as Bouillon Bilk, caught fire for the second time in a few months.” During this particular instance, the smoke fully covered our cafe. The fire is still burning, and we do not yet know the full extent of the damage or the amount of time it will take to do so. One thing that we are aware of is that we are required to close till further notice. There is a severe blow. It has been a couple years since our eighth burglary, burning out, or door breaking down. Let alone the thousands of jobs that are located on one particular street corner. We have high hopes of rolling up our sleeves once more, but we are not yet aware of how to do so. In the meantime, we will be waiting for you in Beaubien or Masson with our arms wide open.
