Chetak LLC Group has issued a nationwide recall of two of its popular products—Deep Sprouted Mat (Moth) and Deep Sprouted Moong—after routine testing raised concerns about possible salmonella contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Wednesday.
Both products were shipped in 16-ounce packaging and distributed nationwide. The recall impacts multiple lot numbers, including 24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, 25171, 24297, 25058, 25078, 24291, 25107, 24354, and 24292 for each product.
Why It Matters
Salmonella is a serious foodborne pathogen that can cause fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps within 12 to 72 hours of exposure. In severe cases—particularly among children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals—infection can lead to hospitalization or even death.
The FDA notes that no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled beans so far. Production has been suspended while federal regulators and the company investigate the contamination source.
Food Safety Context
The recall comes amid a surge in 2025 food recalls tied to contamination and undeclared allergens. According to the FDA, millions of Americans suffer from food allergies or sensitivities annually, and salmonella remains one of the leading causes of foodborne illness in the U.S.
What Consumers Should Do
Consumers who purchased Deep Sprouted Mat (Moth) or Deep Sprouted Moong are advised to return the products to the original place of purchase for a refund.
