Batavia Chiropractor Indicted on 76 Counts in Hidden Camera Investigation

Batavia, Illinois — A suburban chiropractor accused of secretly recording patients inside his clinic has been indicted on 76 felony counts, including charges related to child sexual abuse material, prosecutors announced Friday.

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said a grand jury returned the indictment against David Hanson, owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia.

Authorities previously alleged that Hanson secretly videotaped more than 180 patients as they undressed or were unclothed inside treatment rooms.

Charges Detailed in Grand Jury Indictment

Prosecutors said the alleged crimes occurred between Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 5, 2025.

Hanson is charged with:

  • 19 counts of Creating Child Sexual Abuse Material (Class X felony)
  • 24 counts of Disseminating Child Sexual Abuse Material (Class X felony)
  • 1 count of Reproducing Child Sexual Abuse Material (Class X felony)
  • 22 counts of Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material (Class 2 felony)
  • 10 counts of Unauthorized Video Recording (Class 4 felony)

Sixteen of the dissemination charges stem from allegations that Hanson shared videos of his own patients online, according to prosecutors.

Hidden Cameras Allegedly Placed in Office

Investigators previously said hidden cameras were “secretly placed throughout” the chiropractic office.

Many recordings were allegedly captured inside a red light therapy room, used for red and near-infrared treatments, according to a news release.

Officials said the victims range from children to adults, with most identified as female.

In addition to recordings made at the office, authorities alleged Hanson possessed and distributed other child sexual abuse material unrelated to his practice.

Hanson remains detained at the Kendall County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on March 12. The case remains under active investigation.

If you or someone you know believes they may have been affected, officials urge contacting law enforcement or victim services for assistance.
