Following the discovery of an alleged scheme to commit murder for hire against her ex-boyfriend and his daughter, a woman from New Jersey was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Jaclyn Diiorio, who is 26 years old, was taken into custody after the police discovered her allegedly paying an informant money to have her ex-boyfriend, who is a 53-year-old officer in the Philadelphia Police Department, and his daughter, who is 19 years old, killed. Diiorio allegedly intended to have the act carried out by a man that she met through the Tinder dating app, as stated in an affidavit of probable cause that was obtained by WCAU, which is an NBC station based in Philadelphia.
Diiorio reportedly had his initial encounter with the informant on Tinder on March 31 at a Wawa convenience store located in Runnemede, New Jersey, as reported by WCAU through their coverage of the documents. During the subsequent few days, the two individuals connected with one another through the use of text messages and phone calls. It was said in the records that Diiorio allegedly expressed to the informant that she wished her ex-boyfriend had passed away at some point along the conversation.
According to the statements made by the prosecutors on April 3, the serious crimes unit of the office became aware of the alleged conspiracy to kill the Philadelphia police officer, as well as Diiorio’s alleged $12,000 fee for the double homicide.
In the statement of probable cause, it was revealed that the accused target was informed of the scheme by the detectives on April 4th. According to his statements to the investigators, he and Diiorio first met when she was working as his barber, and they divorced on March 6th. There was a temporary restraining order that Diiorio had filed against the Philadelphia police officer, but he ultimately decided to withdraw it.
The meeting between Diiorio and the informant was slated to take place at a Dollar General in Glendora, New Jersey. It is alleged that Diiorio intended to pay the informant $500 as a down payment for the murders. In the aftermath of the payment being made, Diiorio was taken into jail by the Gloucester Township police who were present at the scene. Additionally, it is reported that she was discovered carrying alprazolam, which is frequently prescribed for the treatment of anxiety and panic attacks, in a bottle with the label removed.
Diiorio was charged with three counts: two counts of attempted murder in the first degree, one crime of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, and one offence of possession of a controlled hazardous substance. She was ordered to remain in detention until her court appearance on April 9th, which was scheduled to take place.
