Arctic Cold Hits Georgia with Temperatures 19 Degrees Below Seasonal Norm

A blast from the Arctic is already affecting Georgia, bringing with it abnormally cold temperatures and the possibility of fires.

As a result of a chilly airmass that originated in northern Manitoba, today’s high temperatures range from the low 30s to near 50 degrees that are up to 19 degrees below the average.

The temperature of the dewpoint has dropped into the single digits, setting a new record low for this time of year on record.

It is anticipated that the relative humidity will fall below 25% under clear sky, which will result in a Fire Danger Statement being issued until 7 PM for the purpose of implementing precautions for outdoor burning.

Maryland Weather: Cold continues, strong winds develop Thursday

Low temperatures on Saturday morning will drop into the teens and 20s, but calm winds will reduce the amount of wind chill that this brings.

Temperatures will reach highs in the 50s tomorrow as a result of a small warming trend.

It is possible that additional fire weather alerts may be issued throughout the weekend because to the low humidity along the border between Alabama and Georgia.
