Anchorage Man Arrested after High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash, Serious Injuries

ANCHORAGE, AK — A 31-year-old Anchorage man is facing multiple charges after a high-speed pursuit Friday evening involving Alaska State Troopers and Palmer Police ended in a crash that left a passenger seriously injured.

According to Troopers, Darren David was spotted driving recklessly on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway, swerving between lanes and appearing impaired. Officers attempted a traffic stop near the CARRS in Palmer, but David fled, prompting an active pursuit.

Troopers deployed spike strips, successfully deflating most of the car’s tires. However, David continued driving erratically, striking several vehicles along the way. The chase ended in Muldoon, where the vehicle crashed.

A passenger in the vehicle sustained serious injuries in the collision and was taken for emergency medical treatment.

David was taken into custody and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where he was remanded without bail. He faces several charges including:

  • Failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer
  • Assault
  • Criminal mischief
  • Driving under the influence
  • Reckless driving
  • Two counts of fleeing the scene of an accident

Authorities say David’s actions posed a serious threat to public safety, and further investigation is ongoing.
