Accused Man From Decatur Who Tried to Kill Someone in Siloam Springs Pleads Not Guilty

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. — Court records show that a guy from Decatur who is accused of trying to kill someone by shooting them in Siloam Springs in July has pleaded not guilty.

Gonzalez, who is 18 years old, was arrested on July 17 on charges of attempted murder and first-degree violence.

At a meeting on October 18, he said he was not guilty of those charges.

For sure, when Siloam Springs cops went to the 1100 block of South Holly Street on July 13, they saw a man who had been shot in the torso and near the kneecap.

Police were told by witnesses that a group of young men jumped the victim, beat him up, and shot him before leaving the scene. The statement says that the man was taken to a nearby hospital.

Three 9mm rounds, one new and two used, were found at the scene.

The person who is thought to have been the victim told cops at the hospital that the group called him outside of his house. The statement said that the group kicked and hit him after he left his house before shooting him.

The victim said he knew only one of the people who were involved.

Police looked at video from security cameras that caught what happened on July 15 and found the truck that the group was driving away in.

Two of the people in the group told cops that Gonzalez was the shooter after they were identified.

The statement says that the police in Siloam Springs talked to the chief of police in Decatur. The chief said Gonzalez had “many run-ins” with the police because of gun-related problems and shooting people a few times.

Gonzalez has been given a $500,000 bond to stay in the Benton County Detention Center and is not allowed to talk to the person who is accused of rape.

The date of his hearing was pushed back from January 21, 2025, to February 12, 2025.
