BUFFALO, New York— Police said Monday that a woman from Buffalo was arrested and charged with robbing a bank in Cheektowaga.

Just before 10 a.m. Monday, police were called to the Thruway Plaza M&T Bank. There, they said that a woman, 54-year-old Lavita Burnett, walked up to the counter and reportedly handed a note to the person behind the counter that said “Hand over cash.”

The police said Burnett threatened the person with a gun, but he didn’t show one.

The money that was given to Burnett had a tracker in it that led police to a store in Buffalo. There, they caught her and charged her with third-degree robbery.
