Davie, Florida — A late-morning traffic stop along Interstate 595 turned into a high-speed pursuit and rollover crash Thursday, ending with the arrest of a driver who authorities say had an active aggravated assault warrant.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving on I-595. Officials said the driver initially slowed down but then suddenly accelerated, fleeing westbound along the busy corridor.
Chase Moves Onto State Road 441
Authorities say the fleeing vehicle exited onto northbound State Road 441, where the pursuit took a dangerous turn.
Investigators said the suspect vehicle crashed into another car before overturning. Aerial footage from the scene showed skid marks across the roadway, multiple law enforcement vehicles and a white car flipped upside down.
Despite the severity of the crash, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported to the other driver involved.
Driver Runs, Passenger Detained
After the crash, authorities said the driver exited the overturned vehicle and ran from the scene on foot. The passenger remained at the scene and was detained by the trooper.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search, deploying deputies and a K-9 unit to canvass the surrounding area.

Troopers later located and apprehended the fleeing driver.
Active Aggravated Assault Warrant
According to investigators, the suspect had an active warrant for aggravated assault at the time of the pursuit. Officials have not yet released the identity of the driver or additional details about the outstanding warrant.
The crash temporarily disrupted traffic in the Davie area as law enforcement secured the scene and cleared debris from the roadway.
Authorities have not indicated whether additional charges will be filed in connection with the pursuit and crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
