Dayton, Ohio – An Ohio man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he called 911 to report that he had shot his girlfriend, allegedly telling the dispatcher that she “got what she deserved.”
Jayme Rogers, 34, has been charged with murder, felonious assault, having weapons while under disability, and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, according to online court records.
Authorities say the victim, Jaime Dick, 33, was found dead inside her running vehicle near her home in Dayton around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
911 call led officers to scene
According to an arrest affidavit cited by local media, Rogers called 911 himself to report the shooting.
“Get here quick, someone is shot,” Rogers allegedly told the dispatcher at the beginning of the call.
Investigators say he admitted during the call that he shot Dick three times because he believed she had been unfaithful. Court documents indicate he also allegedly told the dispatcher that she “got what she deserved” and that he was not “going out without a fight.”
When officers arrived at the scene, police said Rogers walked out of a nearby residence and repeatedly admitted to shooting Dick.
Evidence recovered at scene
According to investigators, officers located bullet casings on the street near Dick’s vehicle and on the sidewalk. Police also reported that the passenger window of the car had been shot.
Dick was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
Rogers was taken into custody without incident.
Charges and bond
Rogers is currently being held on a $1 million bond, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 20.
As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
