Pilot Point, Texas — Two bicyclists were killed in a tragic crash in North Texas after being struck by a speeding driver who was allegedly unlicensed and inattentive, according to a crash report released by authorities.
The collision occurred around 8:19 a.m. on December 20 along FM 455 East, just east of Fritcher Road, Pilot Point police said.
Two Cyclists Pronounced Dead After Transport
Emergency crews from Pilot Point EMS and the Celina Fire Department responded to reports that two cyclists had been struck by a vehicle.
One victim was transported to Methodist Celina Medical Center, where he later died. The second cyclist was airlifted by CareFlite to Medical City Plano, where he also succumbed to his injuries, officials confirmed.
Crash Report Details Driver’s Actions
According to a crash report from the Texas Department of Transportation, the 23-year-old driver was speeding and not paying attention at the time of the collision.
Officials said the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license and refused both alcohol and drug testing following the crash. Authorities have not publicly released the suspect’s name. No charges have yet been announced as the investigation remains ongoing.
Victims Identified as Local Triathletes
The victims were later identified as Andre Kocher and Scott Mages, members of the Frisco Triathlon Club.
The club confirmed the men were participating in a group cycling ride when the crash occurred.
In a statement, the organization described the loss as devastating:
“During a group ride, we lost Andre and Scott—two men who were far more than fellow triathletes. They were friends, mentors, encouragers, and a constant presence within our community.”
The statement added that both men embodied the club’s values of connection, support, and shared passion for sport and life.
Community Event Planned in Their Memory
To honor the cyclists, the Frisco Triathlon Club announced it will host a Santa Fun Run at 8 a.m. on December 24 at 9359 Legacy Drive, Suite 300A, in Frisco.

Organizers said the event is intended as a moment of remembrance and unity during an especially difficult time.
“Our hearts are heavy, but our resolve to care for one another is strong,” the club said.
Investigation Continues
Police confirmed the investigation into the crash is ongoing. Authorities have not indicated whether additional charges may be filed.
