Indiana Man Found Guilty of Murder after Stabbing Wife 40 Times on Valentine’s Day

Clark County, IN – A 35-year-old man has been found guilty of murder in the brutal Valentine’s Day killing of his wife, who was stabbed approximately 40 times with a kitchen knife, authorities say. The man, Taylor James Meyer, allegedly carried out the killing after becoming upset over his wife’s response to his romantic gestures and then sent a photo of her body to her family and a man he believed she was seeing.

The case has shocked the Clark County community, highlighting extreme domestic violence and the dangers of unresolved marital disputes escalating into fatal violence.

Jury Convicts Meyer in Six-Day Trial

A Clark County jury returned a guilty verdict on Thursday, finding Meyer guilty of one count of murder in the death of 36-year-old Deborah Meyer, court records show. Jurors deliberated only hours after closing arguments, bringing the six-day trial to a close.

Meyer faces decades behind bars, with sentencing scheduled for Feb. 20. He remains in the Clark County Jail pending his hearing.

Crime Occurred During Late-Night Domestic Incident

Police with the Jeffersonville Police Department responded late on Feb. 14, 2025, to the Meyer home on Westwood Drive after receiving a call that Deborah Meyer was in danger. The caller reported hearing the victim yelling for help through a phone call from her device.

Officers later discovered Meyer’s wife’s body and three young children under the age of 5 inside the home.

Responding officers described encountering an aggressive Taylor Meyer, requiring them to use control techniques to take him into custody. A probable cause affidavit detailed that Deborah Meyer had been stabbed approximately 40 times.

Alleged Motive and Details From Meyer’s Confession

Investigators say Meyer confessed to killing his wife, citing marital strain after seeing a photo of her holding hands with another man, whom he referred to as her “co-worker,” in January 2025. Meyer reportedly said he had planned an elaborate “Bringing Paris to You” Valentine’s Day for his wife, including decorations drawn by their children.

“It was the hardest I’ve ever tried. She just didn’t give a s—,” Meyer allegedly told police.

After a dispute, Meyer said he and his wife fought physically when she refused to hand over her phone. He admitted to choking her, hitting her with a wine bottle, and ultimately using a long kitchen knife to repeatedly stab her in the chest.

During the attack, Meyer reportedly called his wife’s alleged boyfriend and said, “It’s your f—ing fault. You want to ruin my marriage and tear my family apart,” while Deborah Meyer screamed in the background.

Meyer then allegedly sent a photo of his wife’s body to the man he believed she was seeing, captioned, “Your fault,” police said.

Medical Examiner Confirms Cause of Death

A medical examiner confirmed that Deborah Meyer had been stabbed around 40 times, consistent with the description provided in Meyer’s confession. Authorities have not yet detailed whether Meyer will face additional charges beyond murder.
