Brooklyn Man Critically Injured after Woman Pours Scalding Oil During Domestic Dispute

Brooklyn, NY – A 38-year-old Brooklyn man was left with critical burns after a woman allegedly poured scalding-hot cooking oil on him during an early-morning assault, authorities confirmed Friday. The incident occurred in the Brownsville neighborhood near East 94th Street and Winthrop Street around 5:20 a.m. on October 15.

According to the NYPD, the victim and suspect, who appears to be in her 30s, were involved in some form of personal relationship.

Details of the Attack

Police sources said the woman doused the man with burning grease, causing serious injuries to his chest, arms, and legs. The severity of his burns has made it difficult for investigators to communicate with him, highlighting the gravity of the attack.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Staten Island University Hospital, where he is currently in critical but stable condition.

Suspect Remains at Large

The suspect fled the scene on foot, and police are actively searching for her. The NYPD released surveillance footage showing a woman walking near a Brooklyn home or business wearing dark pants and a dark top, in an effort to identify and locate her.

Authorities have not released the woman’s identity but continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.

Community Reaction and Safety Concerns

The incident has alarmed residents in Brownsville, a neighborhood already concerned with public safety issues. Authorities stress the importance of reporting suspicious activity and urge residents to be vigilant, particularly during early morning hours.

Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the attack, including the nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspect, and are exploring whether the crime stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Ongoing Investigation

The NYPD is actively reviewing video surveillance and witness statements to locate the suspect. They continue to work alongside local community groups to raise awareness and encourage tips that could lead to an arrest.

“This is a shocking act of violence, and we are doing everything possible to bring the responsible individual to justice,” an NYPD spokesperson said.

Authorities are warning the public not to approach the suspect if seen and to immediately contact the NYPD or call 911 with any information.
