Halloween Weekend in Hudson Valley: Parades, Haunted Rides & Family Fun

Communities across the Hudson Valley are coming alive with Halloween spirit, offering events for families, kids, and adults alike. From haunted boat rides to costume parades and trunk-or-treat gatherings, there’s something spooky and fun for everyone this weekend.

Kingston

Kingston will be buzzing with Halloween excitement as local organizations and businesses host community-friendly celebrations.

  • Uptown Business Association Trick-or-Treat: Oct. 31, 3:30–5:30 p.m. Children can trick-or-treat at uptown businesses and collect raffle tickets. Pick up “passports” at Kingston Social (237 Fair St.) or Mainetti and Mainetti (130 N. Front St.).
  • Hudson River Maritime Museum Boat Trips: Thursdays and Fridays at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Family-friendly haunted boat rides aboard the Solaris feature ghost stories, hot cider, and treats. Location: 50 Rondout Landing.

Ellenville

Ellenville is keeping things classic this Halloween with a community trunk-or-treat.

  • Trunk-or-Treat: Oct. 31, 6–9 p.m. Ellenville High School parking lot (28 Maple Ave). Families can enjoy candy, decorated car trunks, and a safe environment for kids.

New Paltz

The spirit of Halloween takes over New Paltz with festive food, parades, and community fun.

  • Historic Huguenot Street Trick-or-Treat: Oct. 31, 3:30–5:30 p.m., 81 Huguenot St. Features local food trucks and is open to all with RSVP encouraged.
  • New Paltz Halloween Parade: Oct. 31, starting 6 p.m. at New Paltz Middle School (196 Main St.), ending at 7:30 p.m. The parade includes music, costumes, and community cheer.

Town of Rochester

Halloween meets compassion at this unique event where animals join in the fun.

  • “Pumpkins and Pigs” at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary: Nov. 1, with sessions at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. Visitors can tour the sanctuary, feed rescued pigs pumpkins, and enjoy the fall atmosphere at 2 Rescue Road, High Falls.

Rosendale

A movie night classic is on the lineup for those who love thrills and chills.

  • “Halloween” (1978) Screening: Oct. 31, 9 p.m., Rosendale Theatre (408 Main St.). Tickets: $10 general, $6 members.

Shawangunk

The local police and Lions Club are teaming up for a community celebration.

  • Wawarsing: 8 p.m. (18 and under without adult)
  • Woodstock: No curfew

Dutchess County

  • Red Hook (Village): No curfew
  • Rhinebeck (Village): No curfew

Greene County

  • Catskill (Village): 8 p.m. (21 and under)
