Garland ISD on Track to Become A-Rated District, Leads Dallas County in TEA Gains

Following a historic year in the 2025 Texas Education Agency (TEA) Accountability Ratings, Garland ISD is on track to earn an A-rated district, making record gains and currently placing among the top-rated districts in Dallas County. More outstanding distinctions and A-rated campuses were awarded to the district than ever before.Over one-third of campuses were rated as A, while roughly two-thirds were rated as A or B.

The TEA’s A F accountability system assesses how well schools and districts educate kids for important learning objectives, including accomplishment, progress, and performance disparities for the most underprivileged pupils. GISD is well on its way to receiving an overall A rating, as evidenced by its 96% College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) rate, which is among the top in the county, region, and state.

Progress Toward an A-Rated District

With a five-point increase in the Closing the Gaps domain and a climb to a B in Student Achievement, GISD’s overall rating increased from an 81 in 2024 to an 84 in 2025. GISD has shown consistent growth year after year since the implementation of STAAR 2.0, when scores declined in almost every district in the state.

There is more to these ratings than just a rise in score. Superintendent Dr. Ricardo L. Pez stated, “This is unquestionable evidence that our students can perform at the highest levels when given high expectations and the support they deserve.” We are well on our way to receiving an A rating as a district, but we won’t be content until we do.

More A-Rated Campuses Than Ever Before

Since TEA’s A-F system was implemented, the district has set records, increased the number of A-rated campuses, and earned more top distinctions. Of these, 23 campuses received an A rating, 42 campuses received at least one distinction, and nine campuses earned all possible distinctions. This notable increase is a testament to Garland ISD’s high standards and unwavering dedication to student success.
